Pirates, Baseball, and Club Time - Oh My!

I am amazed at how fast this last week flew by!  I am enjoying many fun times with kids and friends as my time in Czech is quickly coming to a close.  Here are some highlights from this past week!

On Monday, I taught English Class with the topic of "Pirates."  The afternoon lesson included a Treasure Hunt with maps around the church, making pirate eyepatches and hooks, and playing lots of rounds of the game "Sardines," which we called "Pirate and Treasure" for the day.  We even found a stuffed animal parrot in our classroom that was actually missing an eye!  So naturally, we made an eyepatch for our mascot also.

Tuesday was very exciting because a couple girls I met at LetFest came to Plan B club! The girls live in a different town, but were staying with their grandmother for the week and came to club for the day with their little brother.  We played games together, did puzzles, made bracelets, and water-color painted!  Since it was a rainy and cold day, all the club kids and leaders watched a cartoon film titled "Rio 2" - with English subtitles for me!  One little girl, who was in my LetFest class, sat on my lap the whole movie.  We had a great time laughing at the movie together!

The two girls and their little brother also came to the sports field on Wednesday.  I had fun teaching the seven-year-old and four-year-old how to catch and hit a baseball while all the "big kids" were playing more competitive games of soccer and baseball.  The baseball gloves were a bit big for their hands, but their catching did improve as we practiced.  I also held one of the bats as a tee for the kids to hit the ball from.  The other bat was still pretty heavy for them to swing, but the two kids really enjoyed trying to hit the ball from the tee and chase after it.

On Thursday, I went to my friend's work to teach English to a small group of adults.  We worked on practicing different conversations in English - mostly talking about their favorite things and their family.  It was lots of fun with these adults, and I really enjoyed my time getting to know them!

I also taught Re-Start club again this Friday.  We focused on the passage from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, and we talked about what it means to have an accountability partner and friends to help a person grow in faith.  We played many partner actvities to demonstate the point of working together - like three-legged races, team balloon popping, finding animal pairs, and more rounds of "Sardines!"

It is hard to believe my summer in Czech is almost over, and I have had to start saying goodbye to some friends already.  But with each goodbye, there is so much joy in knowing how many wonderful, lasting friendships I have encountered!  I know our friendships will continue, and I thank God for all the time I did get to spend with everyone!
