Skyping Youth Group

The youth group I get to be a part of in Czech meets Friday nights to have devotions together, pray, play games, and just hang out.  In the summer, I always look forward to spending time surrounded by these young Christian friends, and I am encouraged as I watch many of them live out their faith.  For multiple of these young friends, they are the only Christians in their homes or in their classes at school, yet they strongly band together on Fridays to encourage each other and invest in Christian fellowship.  It is truly a beautiful, God-centered environment that I am blessed to be a part of, and even more blessed to call this group of young believers some of my best friends.

Sometimes, I will be able to send a message to one of my friends who is going to group to send greetings from me to everyone.  The time difference from Minnesota to Czech and my crowded school schedule rarely allows time for me to be available at the right moment when everyone is together.

However, being on Christmas break has more advantages than just relaxation time; it gave me time to surprise youth group with a Skype call!  A couple friends from youth group and I had planned it last weekend because one friend was organizing the group game for the night.  I got to be the surprise judge for a team contest.  I loved being a part of the event and enjoyed talking to so many of my friends in one place!  Watching this group of high-school and young adult Christians come together brings me so much joy in seeing the expansion of God's kingdom and knowing that He is truly reaching a generation of believers who have their hearts set on Him.
