Back to Normal

After a few weeks of LetFest and then Vikings Camp, things are finally back to the normal schedule around here.  Lately, I have been spending lots of time with my host siblings, the kids from Plan B, and many other friends.

This week I taught two English Classes; topics including "Emotions" and "Ready for Take-off/Flying."  During the "Emotions" lesson, we played an emotions guessing game where all the kids chose a piece of paper with an emotion on it and had to act out the emotion for the "Psychiatrist" to guess.  We also made "Emotion Wheels" out of paper plates that the kids can turn to display different facial emotions of the person drawn on the paper plate.
In the "Ready for Take-off/Flying" lesson, we began class by making our classroom into an airplane and taking a flight - complete with a pilot, co-pilot, flight attendant, passengers, and some air turbulence.  I then taught the kids how pilots-in-training use a "jiffy hood" to cover their eyes in order to trust their panels of controls rather than always what they see.  To demonstrate, I had a giant airplane taped to the wall and the kids took turns trying to "pin the propeller on the airplane" while wearing a blindfold!  Each student took a turn being the pilot who had to direct the pilot-in-training (blindfolded child) in the right direction.  We also made airplanes that fly by blowing through a straw and shooting the paper airplane across the room.  We made a runway with tape on the ground and the kids tried to land their plane on the runway from all different distances.

I have also been spending lots of time with my five little host siblings.  They are all so full of energy, and I get countless snuggles and hugs each day!  One of the new things I have discovered while living here are all the differences between Czech and American animal noices.  I love watching my littlest host sister jump around like a frog saying "qvack, qvack!" Almost like how American ducks say "quack, quack!"  There are many other animal noises I am learning as the girls and I play more.

It's hard to believe I leave three weeks from today already!  This summer has just flown by, but I know God has some plans for how He will use me these last few weeks.
