My flight leaves on May 20th, and I will not be returning to the U.S. until August 18th. Almost three whole months in Czech! For those of you who do not know, this will be my second full summer in the Czech Republic, but my sixth time going as the first four trips were each two week mission trips.
Words cannot express my excitement for this summer. I am thrilled to be returning to work with the Brethren Church of Letovice, anxious to see all the kids again, and excited to see how God will move through the village of Letovice again this summer. I really saw God work in the interactions I had with the students last year, and I believe that this year I can continue to go deeper into building relationships, meet new students, and continue to share God's love with the children.
Letovice, CZ
Here are the activities I will be involved with helping and/or teaching this summer.
- Plan B (a club for Elementary and Middle School age kids; approx. 4x week)
- Plan E (small group style English Class; approx. 3x week)
- ReStart Club (Elementary Youth Group; approx. 1x week)
- Wembloud Club (High School Youth Group; approx. 1x week)
- LetFest - Children's English (English Camp with Friendship Church; one week)
- Vikings Camp (Youth Camp, one week)
- Sunday School (approx. 1x week)
- Adult English Class (approx. 1x week?)
- Teaching English in the Public Elementary School (when teachers ask)
Additionally, I will spend time with the kids by taking them out for ice cream, playing sports with them, and doing lots of other things throughout the summer.
One way I have already seen God's hand on this mission is through the abundance of prayer support and all the financial support from friends and family. I have recently reached my financial goal for traveling to Czech this summer, and I am overjoyed in seeing God faithfully provide. I also have notebook pages filled with names and emails of those of you who are praying for Czech and the children this summer! I want to thank you all for the support because without your generosity and prayers, this mission would not be possible.
There are two verses I have kept close to my heart during the preparation of this mission and they will carry over throughout the summer...
"And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'" Mark 16:15
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
It is my prayer that God will use me to proclaim the gospel to the people in Czech, especially to the children, so that as they grow, they will continue to cling to the hope God gives.
Expect many more updates and stories throughout the summer as another adventure begins!
