A Dozen Days to Departure

On Tuesday morning, I received an exciting, much anticipated phone call from the Czech Consulate at promptly 8:16am.  The lady on the other end of the line told me that my visa had been approved, and it took all I had in me not to start shouting and praising Jesus while still on the phone!  Believe me, that celebration came immediately after the phone call ended.  I bolted upstairs and jumped on my sister's bed - waking her up like we used to do as kids on Christmas morning - this was my "Christmas" in a way.  I took a deep breath (as I had just run up two flights of stairs and think I leaped over the majority of the steps), and then I stuttered out the new exciting news to which she replied with a yawn and said "that's nice, Kendra.  I knew it would arrive," and retreated back under her covers.

Even though her reaction to the news was slightly less than ecstatic, I greatly enjoyed my sister's response as it was a reminder of God's faithfulness.  I know he has called me to go to the Czech Republic to share his love with the people there and to continue building friendships, and even throughout anxiously awaiting for the visa, I was confident that Czech was in his plan for me.  I tend to have a good patience record... it is especially handy when working with all the kids... but after waiting a couple months and only being a few weeks away from my departure day, my patience was draining.  My prayers each morning included first, that the visa would arrive, and second, that if the call from the consulate didn't come that day, that my patience would be strengthened.  Praise the Lord it arrived just in time!

It's Here!

When I told the youth pastor in Czech about the visa approval, he simply said "welcome home :)".  I am excited to be going back to one of my homes so soon!  I have already begun packing my suitcases with many of the items and clothes I will need; however, it is an interesting feeling to be packing everything in a couple suitcases to move to Czech as it is a day I had thought about for years.  While getting everything ready to pack, I knew I wouldn't have the space to bring everything - like dishes, towels, and other needed items - but I trusted that God would provide these things once I arrived in Czech.  Then, God placed another blessing on my move to Czech by prompting a close family friend to create a "Blessing Board" where friends at FaithPoint Church can take an item and donate the cost of that item so I can purchase it (or a similar item) once in Czech!  It has been a huge support to see people come alongside me and this mission in so many ways, and I am grateful for all the blessings God has provided.

In planning and preparing to move to Czech, I also had to consider many financial details.  I had figured I need just over $1,000 each month once calculating many of the expenses.  Knowing that I am going to Czech as a volunteer missionary, I knew I had to trust God to provide all the support for this mission.  In just over three months of receiving support, God amazed me with the generosity of others!  With the one-time support and monthly pledges from churches and friends, I have almost reached the goal to be supported fully for the year!  And I have confidence that God will continue to provide for all my needs.  To also help fundraise and share with others about what I will be doing in Czech, I had t-shirts made - which my family and friends have enjoyed wearing.  (Note: If you are interested in a shirt, I have a couple sizes left - a small, 2 mediums, and an XL - I have been selling them at $20 ea. to cover the cost of the shirt and to fundraise.)

It is exciting to think that fly-out day is less than two weeks away!  I am looking forward to all God has planned for this next month with moving to Letovice, LetFest (English Camp), and Vikings Camp (Club Camp) just around the corner.  And with God's guidance, I know I am ready to embrace it all.
